Our Story
Erick a 22-year-old in search of a career, wandered into the Palm Bay library, and asked the Librarian, his friend Marie, get a large career catalog book. She opened it to a random page at Erick's request, and Erick put his index finger down dramatically, landing on Optician. "Strange" he thought, due to his father's lifelong blindness from retinitis pigmentosa, he found becoming an Optician a surprising career. He had a friend who worked at LensCrafters, and suggested he could apprentice there, gain hands-on experience, and eventually get a professional license.
After two years at LensCrafters, Erick was promoted to Retail Manager and consequently met some of the most career shaping people in his life. Both Opticians he apprenticed under were passionate, an excellent practitioner first mentality, and highly patient focused.
In a funny way, they taught Erick the most important lesson: he was their sales manager, and in conversation, both of his Sponsoring Opticians stated,
" Forget corporate sales goals. Focus on the human in front of you, ensuring you listen to their needs and provide an honest, quality solution, and all sales and customer satisfaction results will be well taken care of."
Soon Erick hired Stacie giving her the first job in optics due to her outgoing nature hard working demeanor and friendly attitude. They bonded quickly as they were the same age and always treated each other like brother and sister. Eric trained Stacy on optics and the optical business in general. Jokingly Stacy would often refer to herself as "Erick's Grasshopper." Erick got promoted after seven years of working together and continuing his career at LensCrafters.
Stacy moved on into ophthalmology, private practice and gained a variance of Experience, All the while dreaming of owning her own obstacle just like Eric did. After tons of hard work and dedication Stacy figured out the formula for an optician to be independent and own their own optical. The optical landscape has long been dominated by large oligopolies, corporations, and private doctors.
Specie began her Freedom Optical, now in Cocoa Village, Florida over four years ago and truly enjoys the quality of care that she can give to her customers. Each patient gets an hour of her time if needed. In a comfortable, professional, high tech, and warm environment. Stacie has seen good practices and bad practices in optical establishments. She obviously knew which business practices to utilize and which to not utilize. She is proud of her optical and her ability to provide top quality service, products, of her entire family of customers.
Meanwhile after 23 years with LensCrafters, and getting many promotions and obtaining his dream career of Regional Trainer, Erick unfortunately went through a reduction in force and left the company. At that time Erick left the optical field went back to college and completed a degree in human resource management and was a human resource manager for three years.
Erick still maintained his license and during a weekend of continuing education he ran into Stacie. It was late in the evening and emotions of joy were high. The quickly hugged caught up on life. Erick had learned that human resource management in a construction company was not rewarding. After a few drinks Erick let his guard down, and asked Stacie if she would help him start his own optical. She replied laughingly "I've been waiting for you to ask me fool!"
And so that's how Liberty Optical began. Erick could not have done it without Stacie. I will be forever thankful to her.
Erick now calls himself Stacy's Grasshopper.

In an emotional text, Erick told Stacie - " I may have hired you into optics, but you hired me back"
Today Stacie and Erick share jokes, laugh almost daily, and give each other encouragement and tough feedback when needed. at times, just like the good old days.

After your exam is complete, a print copy of your eyeglass prescription will be provided to you. Our contact lens fitting process includes two follow-up appointments and trials as needed to ensure your comfort and satisfaction with your eyewear.
